The Story Behind Our Stories
It all started with a simple, heartfelt problem. My four-year-old daughter only wanted her mother for bedtime stories. Every night was a little battle, and I longed for a way to build our own special connection.
One evening, I had an idea. What if the story wasn"t just for her, but was her?
That night, I didn"t read from a book. I told her a new kind of story—one where she was the hero. I used her name, her favorite stuffed animal, and sent her on a magical adventure where she saved a kingdom of sparkling fireflies. Her eyes lit up. The bedtime battle transformed into a moment of shared magic. She was captivated. And for the first time, she asked me for a story the next night.
Soon, I realized this was more than just a way to connect. When she was nervous about preschool, we'd have a story where she bravely discovered a wonderful new castle (that looked a lot like her school). When she was learning to be brave and say "hello," her character—her very self—would courageously greet a friendly dragon.
These stories became our special tool. They were helping her navigate her world, building her confidence, and even expanding her vocabulary in ways I never imagined. Our bond grew deeper with every new adventure.
I created FairyTaleMyKid to share that magic with other families. It's a way for every parent, grandparent, and loved one to become a master storyteller, to create those moments of pure wonder, and to give a child the incredible gift of seeing themselves as the hero of their own life.
